Sri Viswadheesha Theertha is the 23rd saint in the lineage of gurus (guru parampare) after Sri Adhokshaja Theertha in the Pejawar mutt.
He received his Ashrama initiation from Sri Viswanidhi Theertha and served as the head (ruler) of the Peeta for a remarkable 30 years.
Sri Viswadheesha Theertha was renowned for his expertise in all Shastras and was consistently engaged in paata and pravachana (recitation and explanation of scriptures).
He appointed Sri Viswadhiraja Theertha as his successor.
Sri Viswadheesha Theertha passed away on the 10th day of Kartika Shudha at Udupi.
