Shri Lokesha Teertharu

Previous (Shri Vagisha Teertharu)     |     Next (Shri Lokantha Teertharu)

Sri Lokesha Theertha is the fourth saint in the lineage of gurus following Sri Janardhana Theertha in the Krishnapura mutt.

Sri Lokesha Theertha received his Ashrama from Sri Vageesha Theertha and served as the head of the Peeta for a period of 40 years.

He was proficient in four Shastras and is believed to have authored a Vyakhyana (commentary) on Vishnu Tatva Nirnaya, a work by Acharya Madhwa.

Sri Lokesha Theertha possessed knowledge of plants and successfully treated diseases of many individuals.

One notable instance was when he cured a person's stomach ailment using a kashaya (tonic) prepared by him, a remedy that had previously eluded other healers.

While there is a saying that his Vrundavana (final resting place) is located in Neramballi, the official records of the mutt indicate that he entered Vrundavana on the banks of the river Krishna.

Upon passing on the leadership to Sri Lokanatha Theertha, it is rumored that Sri Lokesha Theertha entered Vrundavana on the banks of the river Krishna. However, thorough research is needed to confirm this account.

His aradhana is observed in the month of Aashada, Shukla, Ashtami.
