Sri Bhuvanendra Theertha is the 24th saint in the lineage of gurus at Puttige mutt after Madhwacharya. He received his spiritual training from Sri Surendra Theertha and led the Peeta for 38 years. Renowned as a great scholar, he performed the Sudha mangala ceremony 12 times.
During his tenure, the Mysore kings visited Udupi to pay their respects and granted authority to Puttige mutt for daily anna-seva (food service) in the Ananta temple. Sri Bhuvanendra Theertha also played a key role in the development of the Anatasayana temple. Additionally, he completed 4 paryayas (turns) during his time, showcasing his leadership.
His Aradhana (commemoration) is celebrated not only in Puttige mutt but also in several other mutts, demonstrating his esteemed reputation. He is believed to have lived for 100 years.
After passing on the leadership of the Peeta to Sri Yogeendra Theertha, Sri Bhuvanendra Theertha entered Vrindavan at Tirthahalli.
