Sthala Purana The Narasimha presence at Mattapalli was hidden in a cave on the Krishna River. Tradition says the Lord appeared in the dream of Anumala Machireddi and revealed the location of the sacred cave and deity.
The cave deity is traditionally revered as Swayambhu, and the dream revelation became central to the Kshetra tradition.
