Sthala Purana
Tharigonda tradition records that Narasimha appeared in a dream and directed that a temple be built. The Lord was also revealed in Saligrama form during the household churning of curd, strengthening the Kshetra's manifestation tradition.
The temple later became inseparably associated with the great devotee Tarigonda Vengamamba.
