Sri Kevala Narasimha Temple — Ramtek

Sthala Purana 

Ramtek's Kevala Narasimha Temple belongs to the ancient sacred landscape of Ramagiri and is associated with the Vakataka period, around the fifth to sixth century CE. Its inscriptional evidence is important for the political and religious history of the Vakatakas and their Gupta connections.

The Narasimha image is represented in a calm, sovereign posture rather than the usual Hiranyakashipu-samhara form. A second ancient Rudra Narasimha shrine nearby adds further importance to Ramtek as an early centre of Narasimha worship.
