Sthala Purana
The temple at Mallur (Hemachala) is one of the most unique Narasimha shrines in India. The deity here is worshipped as Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy, but unlike other idols, the form is said to be living and organic — the idol is soft to touch, like human skin, and even exudes sweat. Local lore narrates that after slaying Hiranyakashipu, Lord Narasimha manifested here in a peaceful form with Goddess Lakshmi.
