Badrinath / Badarikashrama

Badari forms the culmination of Uttara Prabandha. The concluding verses affirm the glory of Narayana/Hayagriva and are especially significant in the Madhwa tradition because of Badari's association with Sri Vedavyasa and Sri Madhwacharya.

Sthala Purana: Badarikashrama is the tapas-bhoomi of Nara-Narayana and a foremost Vishnu Kshetra. Madhwa tradition gives it added importance through Sri Vedavyasa and Sri Madhwacharya. The place continues to be approached as a sacred destination in its regional pilgrimage tradition. The present guide therefore focuses on the principal deity, tirtha or sacred feature that a pilgrim can identify and visit today, without treating later local traditions as though every detail were stated by Sri Vadirajaru.

Places to See in the Kshetra: Badri Narayana Temple, Tapt Kund, Brahma Kapal, principal Narayana sites.
