Ancient Narasimha Temple — Eran

Sthala Purana

Eran is one of India's important early Vaishnava archaeological sites. The ancient settlement contains a monumental Narasimha image and the remains of a Narasimha temple within a broader Gupta-period sacred complex that also includes important Varaha and Vishnu remains.

The site is particularly valuable for understanding the early development of monumental Narasimha iconography in India. Its importance is historical and archaeological, while worship and cultural memory continue to give Narasimha a prominent place in Eran's identity.
