Prahlad Ghat is one of Kashi's old sacred ghats and preserves a strong local tradition connecting the area with Bhakta Prahlada and Lord Narasimha. Narasimha shrines form part of the religious landscape of the ghat.

The locality is also known for an old annual Narasimha Leela depicting the Prahlada-Hiranyakashipu narrative. Historical references to the ghat extend back many centuries, making it an important Narasimha-associated sacred site within Varanasi.
