Without Shikaa or Chandike, can one perform any karma (ritual)?

A text called Smrityartha Sagara explains:

👉 A Brahmana should always:

• Wear the Yajnopavita (sacred thread)
• Keep the Shikha properly tied

Important Meaning

• If a person performs rituals without Yajnopavita and Shikha,
  👉 those actions become fruitless (no result)
• To tie the knot (Chandike),
  👉 Shikha must be present

Practical Understanding

👉 One should at least maintain a proper Shikha
👉 It should be sufficient to tie (knot)
👉 Without it, rituals lose their value

Conclusion

👉 Always wear Yajnopavita
👉 Always keep Shikha tied properly
👉 Otherwise, rituals may become ineffective
