Why should we dedicate our punya karma to Bhagavan? What happens if we fail to do so?

Pt. Shri. Vedavyasacharya

General

Why should we offer the meritorious actions (punya karmas) we perform to the Lord? What happens if we do not offer them? This question is often asked.

For this, a scriptural reference explains:

“Narpyanti hata loke punyani vividhani cha,
viphalani bhavantyete shramyeva phalam bhavet.”

This means that the meritorious actions performed by us must обязательно be offered to the Lord. If we do not offer them, the rakshasas (demons) take away the merit of those actions, and therefore we will not receive the fruits of the punya that we have earned.

Hence, if we want to receive the proper results of our good deeds, we must обязательно offer those karmas to the Lord.

This offering should be done by saying:

“Asmad-guruvantargata samasta-guruvantargata Bharati-Ramana-Mukhya-Pranantargata Sri Krishnarpanamastu.”

When we say this, the action becomes properly offered to the Lord, and then we will certainly receive the rightful fruits of that karma.
