What are the spiritual benefits of performing Ksheerabhisheka (milk abhisheka) to the deity?

Pt. Shri. Vedavyasacharya

Pooja

It is commonly seen that Ksheerabhisheka (milk abhisheka) is performed for deities everywhere. It is especially well known that every Friday, Ksheerabhisheka is performed for Lord Venkateswara (Timmappa).

A question is asked: What is the benefit (phala) of performing Ksheerabhisheka?

The scriptures say:

“Kṣīra-snānaṁ prakurvanti ye narāḥ kṛṣṇa-mūrdhani
jñātāśva-medhajaṁ puṇyaṁ bindunā bindunā smṛtam.”

Meaning:

Those who perform milk abhisheka to the Lord (Krishna/Vishnu)

For every single drop of milk used,

They receive the merit equal to performing an Ashwamedha Yajna

Understanding the Teaching

Milk is considered pure and sattvic

Offering it to the Lord brings great spiritual merit (punya)

Each drop itself is said to give immense punya

Guidance

We should try to perform Ksheerabhisheka at home

At least once a week, if possible

Do it with devotion and sincerity
