Ingredients
Urad dal (black gram dal): 2 cup
Pepper: 1½ tablespoon
Instructions
Dry Roast the Dal:
- In a pan, dry roast the urad dal over medium heat until it turns light golden and gives a nutty aroma. Stir continuously to avoid burning. This should take around 10-15 minutes.
Roast the Pepper:
- In the same pan, slightly roast the pepper for about 2-5 minutes until fragrant.
Grind the Ingredients:
- Let both the roasted urad dal and pepper cool down.
- In a grinder, combine them and grind to a fine powder.
Store:
- Store the urad dal pudi in an airtight container.
Usage:
You can use this Urad Dal Pudi in:
- Kootu
- Chithranna
- Palidya
- sambar
- rasam
- varity Rice
- Or as a flavorful side dish with Idli or Dosa, mixed with ghee or oil.
