Appeech kheer / Appi Payasa is one of the famous sweet dishes of Madhwas and is normally cooked during Festivals and major Functions.

Ingredients

Milk - 1 litre
Chiroti Rava - 1 cup
Sugar - ½  cup
Saffron - 1/8 Tablespoon
Cardamom powder - 1 Tablespoon
Dry Fruits - 2 Tablespoon (Raisins, Almonds, Cashews and Pistachio)
Ghee - For frying and for Kheer/Payasa

Instructions

  • Add water to the Chiroti Rave and knead it into a dough.  Let the dough rest for 4-5 hours.
  • Roll the kneaded dough like a Poori and fry them in Ghee till they are crisp.  Crush them by hand into medium pieces and keep it aside.
  • Boil the milk.  Once it starts to boil, add Suga and 1 Tablespoon Ghee and let it boil for 5 mts.
  • Add crushed pieces to the boiling Milk and let it boil further for 10 minutes in medium flame until the crushed pieces are soft and cooked. 
  • Add saffron powder, Cardamom Powder and Cut Dry Fruits and shut off the flame after 2 minutes.
