Sri Yogeendra Theertha, formerly known as Sri Venkannacharya, was one of the three grandsons of Sri Raghavendra Swami's poorvashrama brother. Sri Yogeendra Theertha was appointed by Sri Raghavendra Swami to succeed him as the next pontiff, displaying exceptional scholarly and spiritual prowess.
After Sri Raghavendra Swami's Brindavan pravesha, Sri Yogeendra Theertha established a code of pooja rituals at Mantralayam and embarked on a pilgrimage. He visited various sacred sites including Kumbakonam and Srirangam, where he engaged in debates and discussions, defeating notable scholars like Kakashastri.
Following his pilgrimage, Sri Yogeendra Theertha settled in Srirangam, prompted by divine guidance in the form of his guru's voice (OM) at a particular spot. He dedicated himself to the service of Lord Krishna and the spiritual welfare of devotees in Srirangam.
Sri Yogeendra Theertha's commitment and devotion led him to enter his Brindavan on the same premises where he heard his guru's voice. His aaradhana (commemoration) is observed on Magha Shudha Dhashami, which falls on the day following Madhwa Navami.
Sri Yogeendra Theertha's brothers in their poorvashrama, Sri Vasudevacharya, and Sri Muddhukrishnacharya, later took Sanyasa and were known as Sri Soorendra Theertha and Sri Sumateendra Theertha respectively.
