Sri Tapomurthy Theertha took Ashrama from Sri Prajnamurthy Theertha and served as the head of the Peeta for a period of 11 years. He acquired knowledge of the Shastras under the guidance of Sri Vadiraja of Sode mutt. Sri Vadiraja entrusted him with the idol of Lord Hayagreeva. Sri Tapomurthy Theertha was renowned as a great tapasvi (ascetic practitioner) and an expert in yoga. Upon passing on the leadership to Sri Sureswara Theertha, he entered Vrundavana at Neramballi.
