Sri Lakshmindra Theertha is the twenty-eighth saint in the lineage of Shiroor Mutt following Sri Vamana Theertha. He received his Ashrama initiation from Sri Lakshmisamudra Theertha and served as the pontiff for 37 years.
Born in 1907 on Plavanga Samvatsara Vaishakha Shudha Dwadashi, Sri Lakshmindra Theertha embarked on his spiritual journey at a young age. He was initiated into the Ashrama by Sri Viswendra Theertha in 1916 A.D. and furthered his education under Satyadhyana Theertha of Uttaradi Mutt.
During his tenure, Sri Lakshmindra Theertha contributed significantly to both education and spirituality. He performed the Sudha Mangala ritual three times and was renowned as a skilled Ayurveda doctor. His initiatives included establishing a primary school in Shiroor village for free education and founding a mutt in Mulky, Dakshina Kannada District, known as the Gopalapura Mutt.
Sri Lakshmindra Theertha was also a prolific writer, authoring works such as Geetha Darshana, Dwaitha Darshana, and publishing the 'Suktamala' in Kannada. Additionally, he played a role in the construction of the Vasantha Mantapa at Sri Krishna Mutt.
Upon passing on the leadership of the Peeta to Sri Lakshmimanojna Theertha, Sri Lakshmindra Theertha is believed to have entered Vrindavana at Udupi, marking the culmination of his earthly journey.
