Sri Viswavandya Theertha is the 18th saint in the lineage of gurus (guru parampare) after Sri Adhokshaja Theertha at the Pejawar mutt.
He received his Ashrama initiation from Sri Viswabhushana Theertha and served as the head (ruler) of the Peeta for an impressive 49 years.
Sri Viswavandya Theertha was renowned as a great teacher proficient in explaining the Shastras and was an outstanding scholar.
He dedicated himself to pilgrimage tours and paata pravachana (recitation and explanation of scriptures).
Sri Viswavandya Theertha appointed Sri Vidyaraja Theertha as his successor.
He passed away on the 14th day of Magha Shudha (a Hindu lunar month) at Kudali.
