Sri Sudheendra Theertha is the 27th saint in the lineage of gurus at Puttige mutt after Madhwacharya.
Born in 1856 in Hejamadi village, Sri Sudheendra Theertha belonged to the Yajurveda shakha. Taking sanyasa in 1878, he received his initial education from Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha and advanced studies under Sri Lakshmivallabha Theertha of Shiroor mutt. He played a significant role in the renovation of the garbha gudi of Udupi Krishna, including lifting and reinstalling the idol.
Sri Sudheendra Theertha established the 'Srimanmadhwasiddhantaprabodhini' school in Udupi and initiated many into sanyasa, including Sri Vidyapoorna Theertha and Sri Vidyaratna Theertha. Recognized as 'Yatikula Chakravarty' in 1944 by saints of other ashta mutts, he completed four paryayas of Krishna Pooja.
His centenary celebrations in 1956 saw the construction of a silver chariot for Udupi Krishna, facilitated by Sri Vibudhesha Theertha of Adamaru mutt. Sri Sudheendra Theertha also blessed many childless couples who later became parents and installed idols of Ramachandra and Mukhyaprana in various locations.
He passed away in 1957, leaving behind a legacy of spiritual leadership and service.
After handing over the Peeta to Sri Sugnanendra Theertha, Sri Sudheendra Theertha entered Vrindavan at Udupi.
