Sri Sumateendra Theertha is the 26th saint in the lineage of gurus at Puttige mutt after Madhwacharya. He received his spiritual training from Sri Yogeendra Theertha and led the Peeta for a few years. He was recognized as a great scholar.
After passing on the leadership of the Peeta to Sri Sudheendra Theertha, Sri Sumateendra Theertha entered Vrindavan at Udupi.
His Aradhana is observed in the month of Phalguna, during the Shukla Paksha, on the Poornima Tithi.
