Sri Adhokshaja Theertha is revered as the first pontiff of the Pejawar Mutt, a position bestowed upon him directly by Sri Madhwacharya himself.
In the lineage of the Udupi Ashta Mutts, Sri Hrishikesha Theertha was the inaugural pontiff, while Sri Adhokshaja Theertha was the final saintly figure to hold this position.
He earned high praise in the text Sumadhwavijaya, being described as "apratyaksha gunodriktah," and was affectionately known as Aja Vittala due to Sri Madhwacharya blessing him with the idol of Sri Vittala.
Renowned for his rigorous tapasvi lifestyle and eloquence in discussing the Shastras, Sri Adhokshaja Theertha undertook pilgrimages to various holy sites, including Bhagirathi.
After passing on the leadership responsibilities to Sri Kamalaksha Theertha, Sri Adhokshaja Theertha is said to have entered Vrindavan on the 7th day of Magha Shudha.
However, the precise location of his Vrindavan resting place remains subject to further research for confirmation.
