The Locals sing and pray in front of the Sankaracharya Gaddi before it is taken from Joshimath Narasing Temple to Pandukesav, 2 days before the opening of the Badrinath Temple.

Every year during the Winter, when the temple of Badirinath is closed, the Gaddi is brought down and kept in Narasing Temple located in Joshimath.
