General
God is omnipresent. However, the divine presence (sannidhana) in temples is much greater than in the idols worshipped at home.
This is because temple deities are scripturally consecrated (Agamokta) by great gods like Brahma, by rishis, or by enlightened elders. Sacred rituals such as Ashtabandhana, Bali, and the installation of the Dhwajasthamba are performed there.
Due to this, the place itself and the deity installed there hold special sanctity. Having darshan of God in such temples bestows great merit.
Therefore, visiting temples and taking darshan is highly beneficial and appropriate.
