Whether it is a solar or lunar eclipse, the Vedarambha period begins before the eclipse. From that time, no food should be taken.
During the eclipse period, one should observe Mailige. Do not touch other items or materials.
After the eclipse starts, take a bath. After this bath, chant mantras and do japa.
Once the eclipse is completely over, take another bath.
This is the proper way to observe an eclipse.
