Yes. It is also accepted as a Vaishnava mantra. Shrimad Acharya has explained its meaning and importance in the Tantrasara.
This mantra should be chanted only after receiving initiation (Diksha) from a Guru. For any mantra japa, initiation from one’s Guru—under whom one studies and receives guidance—is essential. Only then should the mantra be practiced regularly.
