Pt. Shri Pranesh Achar (Ananda Rangan)
Pooja
Generally, flowers without fragrance should not be offered in the worship of God.
Any flower that is naturally red in color but has no fragrance—such odorless red flowers (rakta-pushpas)—should not be offered to God.
When the question arises as to which flowers should be used for worship, the Puranas give us guidance.
Flowers such as Ketaki, Jaaji (Taḷampu / Jasmine), Rose, Punnaga, Vakula, and other auspicious flowers like Sampige (Champak) and Samanti (Chrysanthemum) can be used to worship God.
These sacred and auspicious flowers are suitable for divine worship.
