Shaking hands is a Western practice.
In Indian tradition, even when we meet close or familiar people, we do not greet them by shaking hands.
In our culture, we greet others by joining both hands and offering Namaskara, and by politely asking about their well-being through words.
This way of greeting with folded hands is our Indian tradition and cultural value.
