The Garuda Purana clearly explains:
👉 When brothers are living separately (divided families),
they should not perform Shraddha together.
Each brother must perform Shraddha separately
If one brother is in one city, he should perform it there
Another brother in a different place should also perform it individually
Even if they are:
In the same town
Or at the same Math or place
👉 Still, they must perform separate Shraddhas, not jointly
One brother performing Shraddha while others just touch or join symbolically
Thinking that one person doing it is enough for all
❌ This is not correct and is not allowed by Shastra
👉 Divided brothers must do separate Shraddha
👉 Joint Shraddha is not allowed in such cases
👉 Each person has their own responsibility
In simple words:
If brothers are living separately, each one must perform Shraddha on their own. Doing it together is not correct as per Shastra.
