According to Shastras, what are the benefits of reciting Tithi, Vaara, Nakshatra, Yoga, and Karana?

Pt. Shri. Vedavyasacharya

General

A common mistake we make daily is this:
While doing Sandhya and other rituals, when it is time to mention the Panchanga details, we simply say
👉 “Subha Nakshatre, Subha Yoge, Subha Karane”
and continue the ritual.

But this is not correct.

We should properly recite all five Panchanga elements in order:

Tithi (lunar day)

Vara (weekday)

Nakshatra (star)

Yoga

Karana

Why is this important?

The scriptures explain the benefits:

Listening to Tithi gives long life (Ayushya)

Listening to Nakshatra removes past sins

Listening to Yoga removes inauspicious effects (Kuyoga)

Listening to Karana gives success in all desires (Sarvabhishta Siddhi)

What should we do?

Keep a Panchanga (calendar) in front

Clearly pronounce Tithi, Vara, Nakshatra, Yoga, and Karana

Then perform the ritual

Conclusion

👉 Do not say just “Subha…” and skip details
👉 Properly recite all five Panchanga elements
👉 This gives full benefit of the ritual + additional blessings
