It appears that shri vidyAnidhi tIrtharu had taken birth only to perform pUje to mUla gOpAlakrishNa dEvaru with full devotion. He was on the pITa for just 48 days from jEshTa shuddha navami to AshADa bahULa yEkAdashi in 1824.
While his tenure was short, he spent all his time performing pUja, japa, tapa those few days. He used to start the pUja in the morning at sUryOdaya and go till afternoon. While his shishyAs would go for prasAda, he would continue reading scriptures and japa. This way he had sacrificed his sleep, food and everything else and wanted to spend every minute in the 48 days in the chintane and sEve of Lord gOpAla krishNa. He clearly knew that his time was short and wanted to utilize every moment. He ordained shri vidyApUrNa tIrtharu to succeed him and blessed him for a long span on the pITA. Shri vidyApUrNa tIrtharu was on the pITA for 48 years.
