Shri Vasudendra Teertharu Aradhana (Shri Raghavendra Swamy Math)

Shri Vasudendra Teertharu was the 23rd pontiff of Shri Raghavendra Swamy Matha (Rayara Matha). He entered sanyasa in 1746 under the guidance of Shri Vadindra Teertharu and became Peethadhipathi in 1750 after his guru attained Brindavana. He attained Hari Pada in 1761, and his Moola Brindavana is located at Siraguppa. His aradhane is observed on Ashvina Bahula Saptami.

His poorvashrama name was Purushotamacharya, and his ashrama shishya was Shri Varadendra Teertharu. He was the eldest son of Venugopalacharya, who was also the elder brother of Shri Vadindra Teertharu. Remarkably, all three sons of Venugopalacharya adorned the peetha:

Purushotamacharya – Shri Vasudendra Teertharu (#23)

Balaramacharya – Shri Varadendra Teertharu (#24)

Lakshminarayanacharya – Shri Bhuvanendra Teertharu (#26)

During his tenure, Mantralaya was officially handed over to the Matha, along with several villages and properties, through royal grants. He was a scholar and composed:

Commentary on "Guru Gunasthavana" by his guru Shri Vadindra Teertharu

"Tantra Sara", another scholastic work

Shri Jagannatha Dasaru composed a song on him titled “Shri Vasudendra Raya… gana marutha”.

His charama shloka is:

"vasudhāthala vikhyātam vairāgyādi guṇārṇavam |
vēda vēdāṅga chathuram vasudēndra gurum bhajē ||"
