Shri Sumateendra Teertharu was the 20th pontiff of Shri Raghavendra Swamy Matha. He entered the peetha in 1692 after receiving ashrama from Shri Sooreendra Teertharu and served till 1725. His ashrama shishya was Shri Upendra Teertharu. His poorvashrama name was Shri Muddu Venkata Krishnachar. He attained Brindavana at Srirangam, in Trichirapalli (Tamil Nadu). His aradhana is observed on Aashwija Krishna Dwadashi.
