Bhadrapada Bahula Saptami is the Aradhana of Shri Prekshanidhi Teertharu.
Shri Prekshanidhi Teertharu
Although a Bidi Sanyasi (wandering monk), Shri Prekshanidhi Teertharu was a renowned scholar and an aparoksha jnani (one with direct spiritual knowledge). He performed numerous miracles during his lifetime and had many disciples, including the notable Haridasaratnam Shri Gopala Dasaru.
Shri Prekshanidhi Teertharu was a contemporary of Shri Vidyaratnakara Teertharu of Shri Sosale Vyasaraja Matha and Shri Satyadhyana Teertharu of Shri Uttaradi Matha.
In a notable instance, Swamiji participated in a scholarly debate lasting 12 days at a sabha organized by the Maharaja of Mysore. After defeating several scholars, he was honored by the Maharaja, and Swamiji offered these honors to his guru, Shri Sudhinidhi Teertharu.
He served as the Asthana Pandit (royal scholar) of the Mysore kingdom. His scholarly reputation was so esteemed that he was selected as an assessor for the Sanskrit examinations at Mysore University.
On one occasion during a visit to Chennai, someone received a divine vision instructing them to give the idol of Gopinatha Devaru to Shri Prekshanidhi Teertharu. He accepted the idol and began worshipping it.
Shri Prekshanidhi Teertharu was an ardent devotee of Shri Raghavendra Swamy. To receive his blessings and become a sanyasi, he performed a Sarvamula Parayana (recitation of sacred scriptures) standing on one leg. Shri Raghavendra Swamy appeared to him in a vision and guided him to continue his service at Tirumala. While serving at Tirumala, Lord Srinivasa appeared in his dream and directed him to his guru, Shri Sudhinidhi Teertharu, who had attained Brindavana at Pallipalayam. Following this, he took sanyasa in front of his guru’s brindavana.
Shri Prekshanidhi Teertharu’s brindavana is located at Mulabagilu town, where two other Bidi Sanyasis—Shri Sukhanidhi Teertharu and Shri Pragnananidhi Teertharu—also attained brindavana in the same premises. This matha also houses the mrithika brindavana of Shri Raghavendra Swamy, installed by Shri Raghumanaya Teertharu of Balagaru Matha. Additionally, the installation of the Venugopala Krishna idol at the matha was performed by Shri Satyapramoda Teertharu of Shri Uttaradi Matha.
