He was a staunch devotee of shri gOpAla dAsaru and shri rAyaru. Both appeared in his dream and asked him to do seve at manthrAlaya. There rAyaru appeared in front of him and gOpAla dAsaru gave him the ankita of Prasanna Srinivasa.
In one of his dEvaranAmAs he describes how shri gOpAla dAsaru took him to witness the samsthAna pUje by shri vidyAprasanna tIrtharu of sOsale vyAsarAja maTa.
He has written commentaries on the Brahmasootras, Bhagavata, Vishnu Sahasranama. His bhashyas are very unique and are mostly in the form of stutis. He created a huge hari dAsa parampare. This includes his own daughter, who is a Ph.D. in Sanskrit and lives in Honnavara.
