Madhwa Jayanthi is the appearance day (birth anniversary) of Sriman Madhwacharya, the founder of the Dvaita Vedanta philosophy and one of the most important spiritual masters in the Madhwa tradition.
It marks the birth of Sri Madhwacharya, who is considered an incarnation of Vayu Devaru (specifically as Mukhya Prana's third avatar after Hanuman and Bhima).
He established the Tatvavada (Dvaita philosophy), affirming that Vishnu is Supreme (Vishnu Sarvottamatva) and all souls are distinct from Him.
Celebrated on Vijaya Dashami (Dasara) – the 10th day of Ashwina Shukla Paksha (usually in September or October).
This day is significant as Sri Madhwacharya is believed to have appeared on Vijaya Dashami day in Pajaka Kshetra, near Udupi.
Idols and photos of Sri Madhwacharya are decorated with flowers and garlands.
Ritual worship (puja) is done with tulasi, sandalwood, and offerings.
