Durga Ashtami, also known as Mahashtami, is one of the most important and powerful days during the Navaratri festival, dedicated to Goddess Durga.
It falls on the eighth day (Ashtami tithi) of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Aashwija (Sept–Oct).
It is the third day of Durga Puja celebrations in all over India.
