Dhatri Pooja
Dhatri Pooja is a ritual where people worship the Nellikayi (Amalaki) tree and Lord Damodara (Sri Krishna). It is usually performed during the Karthika month.
How is it performed?
The ritual is performed under the Aamla tree.
It involves chanting the Dhatri Namana mantra, performing Homa, and worshipping Karteeka Damodara.
After the ritual, Brahmins and Suvaasinis are fed near the tree.
When is it performed?
It is usually done on any day during the Karthika month, except Tuesdays, Fridays, Sundays, and Sapthami.
It is preferred on lunar days from Trayodasi in Sukla Paksha to Panchami in Krishna Paksha.
Benefits:
It is believed to remove the dosha from eating food in other people’s homes.
It helps to remove Vratalopa dosha.
It is said to give the same benefits as performing thousands of Ashwamedha and hundreds of Vajapeya yaagas.
