Gandana pooje, is an important pooje performed in Hindu/Madhwa houses by unmarried women and newly married women. The married women perform this Pooja for the first 9 years of their marriage. Pooja is performed for Shiva and Parvati. A turmeric dipped Thread is either tied around Parvathi or placed in front of the Photo during the Pooja. The same is tied to the Married women either by her Mother or Mother-in-law, after the Pooja is over.
