Balarama Jayanthi
Balarama Jayanthi is the birth anniversary of Lord Balarama. He was the elder brother of Lord Krishna. Balarama is also worshipped as an avatar of Adishesha, the serpent on which Lord Vishnu rests. He is known by other names like Baladeva, Balabhadra, and Halayudha.
Lord Balarama was the seventh child of Vasudeva and Devaki. He killed several demons and represents power and strength. People who worship Lord Balarama and celebrate Balarama Jayanti are blessed with good health. Devotees who observe the Balarama Jayanti fast gain physical strength.
In North India, this day is also called Hal Sashti and Lalahi Chhath. In the Braj region, it is known as Baladeva Chhath, and in Gujarat, it is observed as Randhan Chhath.
