Akshaya Tritiya

Akshaya Tritiya is celebrated on the 3rd Day (Tritiya) of Vaishaka.  It is a very Auspicious day.  Especially to start any new ventures.  Any good deed you do this day gives multi-fold punya.  This day is highly revered in all Sastras.

On this day, take bath (Head Bath for Men) early in the Morning with Sankalpa.  It is even more auspicious if you take bath in a Holy River on this day.  Depending on the time at your disposal, perform Pooja to Shaligram at home.  Whatever Japa, Homa, Tharpana, Dhana, etc, one performs that day will get more Punya.  This is a day to reduce the effects of all the Bad Deeds (Paapa) one has performed.  This can be done by applying Sandalwood Paste to the Lord.

On this day, men who have lost their father should offer Tharpanam to Sarva Pitru (Samastha Pitru).

Pavitra Dharanam - Om Bhu: Om Bhuva…… Evanguna Visheshana Vishistayam Punya Tithou, Pracheenaveethi.

Offer Tharpanam to all Pitrus in your Family (Refer Panchanga for the list of Pitrus to whom one should offer Tharpanam)

Pavithra Visarjanam - Achamanam.

Try to do lot of Charity and Satkarma on this day.  Anna Dhan is a noble cause that can be done on Akshaya Tritiya.
