Waran/Thovve Recipe
For seasoning:
Cook the dal: Wash and cook the toor dal or moong dal in a pressure cooker or pot until soft and mushy. Mash the cooked dal lightly.
Seasoning: Heat oil or ghee in a small pan. Add mustard seeds and allow them to splutter. Then add urad dal, and fry until golden. Add a pinch of hing, green chillies, red chillies, and curry leaves (optional).
Combine with dal: Pour this seasoned mixture over the cooked dal.
Finish and serve: Stir in salt and garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves. Mix well and serve hot.
