The Moola Matha that comes in the lineage of Shri Hamsa Namaka Paramatma was involved in spreading the Tatvavada Philosophy and guiding the people by preaching the right direction in attaining Moksha. Despite the establishment of many Maths, initially by Shriman Madhwacharya and later by Shri Padmanabha Teertharu, Shri Narahari Teertharu, Shri Madhawa Teertharu, Shri Akshobhya Teertharu and Shri Vidyadhiraja Teertharu, the Moola Matha was functioning with its own lineage intact.
Shri Ramachandra Teertharu, the Shishya of Shri Vageesha Tirtharu in the Hamsa Namaka Paramatma lineage of the Moola Matha, initiated two of his disciples into Sanyasa and named them as Shri Vibudhendra Teertharu and Shri Vidyanidhi Teertharu. The lineage of Shri Vibudhendra Teertharu, initially called as Shri Kumbakonam Matha went on to be called as Shri Raghavendra Swamy Matha after the great Shri Raghavendra Teertharu adorned the Holy Peeta. The lineage of Shri Vidyanidhi Teertharu went on to become Shri Uttaradi Matha.
