Shri Vidyendra Teertharu

Sri Vidyendra Theertha is the twenty-eighth saint in the lineage of gurus following Sri Janardhana Theertha in the guru parampare of Krishnapura mutt.

He received his Ashrama from Sri Vidyavallabha Theertha and served as the head of the Peeta for a duration of 9 years.

Sri Vidyendra Theertha was renowned as a great scholar and tapasvi (ascetic).

During his time, he engaged in scholarly debates in Kashi and emerged victorious, bringing back jayapatrikas (victory flags).

Towards the end of his life, Sri Vidyendra Theertha performed Dana (charity) of all his possessions.

He then went to the confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers and, with true devotion, requested the Ganga to take him inside.

In response to his sincere prayer, the Ganga swallowed him and carried him away.

Sri Vidyendra Theertha composed the Ganga Panchaka stuti (hymn of praise) in reverence to the sacred river.

Finally, he handed over the leadership of the Peeta to Sri Vidyanidhi Theertha.

It is said that Sri Vidyendra Theertha entered Vrindavana at the confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers, although further research is needed to confirm this location.
