Sri Vidyapati Theertha is the thirty-first saint in the lineage of gurus following Sri Janardhana Theertha in the guru parampare of Krishnapura mutt.
He received his Ashrama from Sri Vidyanidhi Theertha, but he passed away before assuming leadership of the Peeta.
Sri Vidyapati Theertha was known as 'Padigaru Swamy'.
He gained renown for his victory over pundits in Kashi vidyapeeta through his scholarly prowess.
Sri Vidyapati Theertha established a mutt in Prayaga and installed the Mukhyaprana deity there.
Additionally, he acquired land in Padigaru, a village near Udupi, where he built another mutt and installed the idol of Muralidhara Gopala Krishna.
Legend has it that Sri Vidyapati Theertha engaged in debates with Sri Rajendra Theertha of Puttige mutt on numerous occasions.
During one such debate, both sages became angry and cursed each other, resulting in their deaths in Chikkapatta.
Despite not ruling the Peeta, Sri Vidyapati Theertha left a significant impact through his scholarly pursuits and spiritual endeavors.
