Sri Surendra Tirtha, previously known as Sri Venkata Krishnacharya, is said to have circled the earth three times while fasting, demonstrating remarkable spiritual strength and dedication.
He was honored by the Vijayanagara King Ramaraya and sought the guidance of Sri Vyasaraja Tirtha to appoint a successor for the continuity of the samsthana. Sri Vyasaraja Tirtha appointed Sri Vijayeendra Theertharu as his disciple and the next pontiff.
Another notable disciple of Sri Surendra Tirtha was Sri Sudheendra Theertharu, who later discovered the renowned saint Sri Raghavendra Swami.
Sri Surendra Tirtha demonstrated his devotion to Lord Krishna through a unique incident involving Tulasi leaves. Sri Vyasaraja Tirtha noticed that the Tulasi leaves brought by his disciples for deity worship had already been offered to Srihari (Lord Krishna). Upon inquiry, Sri Vyasaraja Tirtha revealed that the entire garden of Tulasi plants had been directly offered by Sri Surendra Tirtha himself, demonstrating his extraordinary commitment to daily worship rituals.
Sri Vyasaraja Tirtha and Sri Surendra Tirtha shared a close bond, and they performed worship together for an extended period, bringing joy to the people of their region.
Sri Surendra Tirtha, deeply impressed by a young sanyasi who was a disciple of Sri Vyasaraja Tirtha, requested Sri Vyasaraja Tirtha to grant him as his own disciple. This young sanyasi was Sri Vijayendra Tirtharu, who was later renamed and appointed as the uttaradhikari of Sri Surendra Tirtha's samsthana.
