H.H. Shri Shri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji, also known as 'Hayavadana' before his monastic life, was born in 1961 in Maniyur, Udupi District. His spiritual and academic mentor, H.H. Sri Vidyamanya Theertha Swamiji, guided him with strict self-discipline and religious studies.
Driven by an intense thirst for knowledge, he delved into the study of scriptures, mastering disciplines such as Tarka, Vyaakarana, and Mimamsa, in addition to the Sudha. He conducted "Sudha Mangala" ceremonies multiple times for numerous students.
Succeeding Sri Sujanendra Theertha Swamiji, H.H. Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji became the head of the Puttige Matha at a young age and assumed the Paryaya Peetha for the first time in 1976 at the age of fifteen. He ascended the Paryaya Peetha for the second time on 18 January 1992.
During his tenure, he initiated various significant projects, relying solely on his unwavering faith in Sri Krishna and His devotees. His leadership led to the successful implementation of these projects, demonstrating the power of devotion to Lord Krishna.
H.H. Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji oversees more than 35 religious and spiritual institutions in India and abroad, including SUVEDA, Suguna Educational Trust, Suguna Samshodana Samsath, Prajna International School Foundation, Sri Puttige Vidyapeetha, Sujnana Religious and Charitable Trust, Sri Sudheendra Trust, Badarika Trust, Sripoorna Charitable Trust, and others.
