Another great soul in the lineage of Palimaru Matha who illuminated the institution is Shri Shri Raghupungava Teertha. He is the twenty second seer in the lineage.
He is the one who initiated the restoration of the dilapidated moola matha at Palimaru. The magnificient matha that we now see at Palimaru was the brain child of Shri Shri Raghupungava Teertha. It was restored about 350 years ago.
His Holiness has documented the renewal of the matha through an engraving on a pillar in front of the sanctum sanctorum of the matha as below:
Raghupuṅgavadhāmēdaṁ raghupuṅgavayōginā |
raghupuṅgavasamprītyai piṅgalābdē navīkr̥tam ||
Thus, the resplendent dwelling of Lord Ramachandra was restored by His Holiness for the love of the Lord and submitted to Him in Pingala samvatsara.
Embellished with devotion and aversion to worldly attachments, He adorned the peeta for 45 years. In Shalivahana shaka 1672 (1750 A.D.) bhaadrapada shuddha shashti, he attained the lotus feet of Lakshminarasimha at the matha in Kanthavara.
