Shri Parasurama Teertharu

Sri Parasurama Theertha served as the 5th peetathipathi in the Sri Padamanabha Theertha paramapara from 1354 to 1364. His brindavan is located by the Chandra Pushkarani inside the Sri Rangam temple. This water pool is significant as it's believed to be where Sri Vibheeshana first landed and is older than the Sri Rangam temple itself.

Sri Parasurama Theertha's gurus were Sri Sankarshana Theertharu and Sri Lakshmi Dhara Theertharu. Both gurus went to Sri Nagar to spread the Madhwa matha teachings and later their brindavanas were established there. Sri Sankarshana Theertharu sent his disciple, Sri Parashrama Theertha, to South India to revive the Ranganatha temple. Sri Parashrama Theertha initiated regular pooja and renovation work in the abandoned temple.

During the period from 1322 to 1371, the Sri Rangam temple faced massive invasions by Mughal forces led by Malikapur and Tuglak. This period, known as "Tulaka Kalabham," saw the temple structure razed, and the forces occupied the temple complex. In 1371, Sri Ranganatha returned to Sri Rangam after being moved to various places, including Tirupathi, for some time.

When Sri Parasurama Theertha arrived in Srirangam, the temple complex was in ruins. He, along with his gurus, assisted in restarting rituals and renovating the temple. The four yathis of Sri Sripadarja samsthana stayed at Sri Rangam and played a significant role in the revival of the Ranganatha temple.

Opposite Sri Parasurama Theertha's brindavan, there are two Anjaneya idols believed to be installed by Sri Vyasaraja Maha Prabhugalu. Sri Parasurama Theertha's brindavan features a carving of Mutt Pattada Devaru Sri Gopinatha, with Gajalakshmi depicted on the front side and a korma peetam, distinguishing it as the brindavan of a yathi.

Subsequent successors of Sri Parasurama Theertha continued to stay at Srirangam and contributed to the renovation of the temple complex and the smooth conduct of daily worship of Sri Ranganatha. This lineage remained dedicated to the service of Sri Ranganatha.
