Sri Vamana Theertha is highly regarded as the first saint to succeed Madhwacharya in the guru parampare of Shiroor Mutt. He received his Ashrama initiation directly from Sri Madhwacharya himself, establishing him as the inaugural pontiff of Shiroor Mutt.
In the Sumadhwa Vijaya, he is referred to as 'adeerghanyabhidana'. Sri Vamana Theertha dedicated himself to spreading Tatvavada teachings to numerous disciples, spending years in meditation and austerity in places like Kurukshetra and along the banks of the Ganga River.
He was known for his exceptional skill in Pranayama and yoga practices. It is said that after passing on the leadership role to Sri Vasudeva Theertha, Sri Vamana Theertha's final rites were conducted at Vrindavana near the confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers, though further research is needed to confirm this account.
